Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions And Lions Clubs International Contribute $100,000 To Reach’s Building For Children Together Campaign

The Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions Club has been a friend of Reach Child and Youth Development Society and children with special needs for more than 20 years.

One of only two Lions Clubs worldwide to serve two countries at the same time, the Boundary Bay Club supports both Tsawwassen and Point Roberts. Today, Reach Foundation recognized a $50,000 donation from the Tsawwassen Club and a $50,000 US contribution from the Lions Club International in support of a new Therapyroom for children with speech language, occupational and physiotherapy needs.

Don Wight, Lions Immediate Past District Governor stated, “All Lions are proud to be a part of an organization that commits itself to helping those who need assistance to appreciate and enjoy the opportunities so many have.  Lions were founded on the belief that the strength and growth of our communities comes from service. The efforts of the Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions Club to raise the funds necessary and successfully request matching funds from the Foundation arm of Lions Clubs International has been extraordinary. Congratulations to all members of this great club. Service for any and all is a Lions Pride.”

The Lions’ donation to Reach Foundation’s Building for Children Together Project today was a testament to long time Boundary Bay Lions Club and former Reach Board Members Jack Davidson and Gary Keller who were involved in Reach since the building project’s inception, advocating for the potential for Reach to serve more children and families in the future.

“We are deeply moved by the Boundary Bay Lions Club and the Lions Club International Foundation’s concern for the development of children and for helping us create a new therapy room in our new community based centre” said Reach Executive Director Renie D’Aquila.

The Lions Clubs‘ commitment aligns with their motto of “Where There's a NEED, There's a LION”.  Whenever a Lions club gets together, problems get smaller and communities get better. That's because we help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy.
